More HMQS Quilts

These are more of the quilts displayed at HMQS in Salt Lake City.....

"Fall Nickels" by Marie Eldredge is an original design made from a stash of "nickels" exchanged by Salt Lake Quilt Guild members. All of the flowers were machine appliqued on a longarm.

The quilting was gorgeous!

"Mulberry Wine" by Patricia Pressler is an original quilt design created on EQ6 software.

Handguided longarm machine quilted...I had to include this one because so many of my friends love this color!

"Belle of the Ball" by Helen Stubbings and machine quilted by Tracey Browning. The quilt was designed by Helen using her Colorque technique (colored pencils to give an applique appearance), needleturn applique and traditional piecing.

And, again, as with so many quilts in this show, the quilting is superb!

Untitled by Annette Murray and machine quilted by Paula Murray.

"Oddfellows Star", pieced by Pat Hitchcox and machine quilted by Sue McCarty, is made from star blocks exchanged with friends.

The flying geese border adds a great touch and, of course, the quilting works perfectly....

"Gordon's Glory and Triumph", pieced by Barbara Gordon and machine quilted by Sue McCarty.

Barbara made this quilt for her husband to sustain him during a difficult illness; it contains the Gordon Crest, representing the strength and courage of the Gordon Clan.

"All Encompassing", pieced by Ellina Poulson and machine quilted by Sue McCarty, contains seventeen Mariner's Compasses with an outer border of flying geese.

Ellina drafted fifteen of the compasses, the flying geese surrounds and the points.

Sue developed the hand guided quilting designs and used copper thread in the compasses.

"Spinning", pieced by Nina Cooke and machine quilted by LaReesa Baldwin, was inspired by a Judy Niemeyer pattern and is paper pieced, using mostly batik fabrics.

Metallic gold thread was used exclusively in the machine quilting.

"Serenity" by Judy Madsen is an original design.

Judy used both wool and Hobbs 80/20 batting as well as approximately 7,000 yards of thread from Superior Threads Highlight series.
