Vacation, Day 4 (cont.) -- Salt Lake City & County Building

The landscaping at what my aunt Barbie called the old city hall was a beautiful, park-like setting. Dan and I wandered the grounds for about 20 minutes, looking at all the flowers, trees and the people enjoying them.

This is the first of two beautiful fountains, set to either side of the entrance to the building....

...and this is the second. I walked around both of them, looking for a plaque or something like you sometimes find in public spaces, but none were to be found. So they must just be "for pretty".

There were quite a few of these round plantings scattered throughout the grounds; I took pictures of my favorites and close-ups of some of the more unusual plants.

The greenery in the center surrounded by vibrant bands of color was particularly eye-catching.....

Huge bunches of lavender were so fragrant......

Pinks, purples and whites and an interesting bit of greenery below....

Each of these areas was planted like a huge container garden, each one unique in its plantings and colors. It was fun for a girl from the SoCal desert to see what can be accomplished with a bit of water and humidity!
